OXIM Series Bass Fishing Rods - Introduction

    Full Video Transcript:

Hey, guys. It's Alex with ALX Rods and I want to introduce our OXIM Series bass fishing rods.

I am super excited to finally get to introduce our newest line of rods, the OXIM series. Had a lot of questions about them. Had some folks who figured out some things were in the works and some new stuff was coming. And finally, finally, we have them available. So these are a little different, a little bit of a break from our traditional design. They're a little fun, but at the same time, they are really, really good, they're a high performance rod, just like everything else in the ALX Rods line.

So just kind of a little background. We started developing these in 2019. I knew I wanted to bring in a new rod line that was positioned under the ZOLO, but still wanted to have a fully US built rod. And so we started working on that and trying to get that to happen. At the same time, we already knew what grips we were going to use on them, and we got those in and the grips actually sat for almost seven months before we were able to put them on the first rod. The blank for the OXIM Series is a 140 GSM carbon fiber blank. It's got 33% resin content. What that means is it's a good, durable blank, but it is very quick, very responsive, and it's very light in hand. It balances out really well and it has exceptionally good feel. So all the companies get into the mumbo-jumbo about this, this and that. At the end of the day for you, what this means is, it's a durable rod that has great feel and balances in hand so it's not going to wear you out.

We took the blanks, we gave them our normal ALX Rods treatment with our grips, but we got really into this one this time and did the urban camo. That has been super popular in our custom shop so we decided to bring it out in our production line of rods as well. We have our normal butt grip on there. We've got our normal spinning and casting seat design. It's just got the EVA urban camo grips. And I know you're going to ask, "Oh, these are full EVA grips." They are. They are a very high durometer EVA. In other words, they're very hard. So it's very, very tough, and they actually have a similar durometer rating as cork. In other words, they have the same type of hardness.

The casting rod has exposed blank seat, trim in the reel seat again, like we always do, and an aluminum winding check on the front just to make sure that that's something that doesn't wear out when you palm your reel a lot. The spinning rods are going to have our same grip as always. It has the oversized tube-style spinning seat that pairs up with every reel. Absolutely great. And this year we did something different on the OXIMs, or in this line, we do a little something different. We moved the spinning rod hook keeper back in the split grip area. So there's no concern anymore about that line hanging up around that hook keeper.

So we're going to introduce this line with two spinning and four casting, a dedicated drop shot finesse and a more general purpose spinning, and then a medium, medium heavy, medium heavy plus and heavy casting rod. But we're already starting to see that we're going to probably have to add a few more models. So just stay tuned on that.

Absolutely, like I said, guys, I am so excited. I have tried my best to kind of keep these under wraps and not really let anything out. We've had a lot of change with them, a lot of different things, trying to make sure that they were right for you guys. Didn't really want to let anything out until they were a finished product and ready to roll. So like I said, I am just super excited to finally get these things out and to be able to answer all your questions about them.

So if you do have any questions, drop us a line, drop us an email, give us a call. If you want any help trying to figure out which models are the right models for you, you can go to alxrods.com/bassfishingrods. We've got an in-depth online tool that walks you through what models are best for you in every situation, regardless of price point. We try to recommend something to fit every budget with that tool. And if you need to get into something more in depth, as always, just drop us an email or call. I'm happy to sit there and talk to you about rods and walk you through and make sure that you get the right product. That's what's more important than anything to us, is to make sure that you have the right rod. So, super excited about the OXIMs. Look forward to you guys fishing them. And let us know if you have any questions or need something.
