  • ZOLO Rumble - 7'1", Glass Heavy, Fast Casting Rod

The ZOLO Rumble has been in development since January of 2019! Specifically designed for bladed jigs, the ZOLO Rumble is a phenomenal single hook, moving baitcasting rod for bass fishing. The made is USA rod blank features a 125gsm carbon fiber backbone material and state of the art fiberglass top section. The benefit of this blended design is a flexible tip that casts a wide variety of bait sizes, allows the bait to work correctly, and provides a steady load once the fish inhales your bait. The carbon base gives the backbone that you need for setting heavy wire, single jig hooks.

Sensitivity is outstanding and the rod balances 1" in front of the reel seat with a 7 oz reel. The rod blank has a natural, unsanded finish and styling is slightly different than the rest of the ZOLO line due to available components on the initial offering.

    Grass & Trap

Really put this rod to work this weekend. 3 days of grass and flooded willows with a LV and TN. Swap your hooks on those baits and tie them onto this rod. You will be able to fish your traps in the grass more efficiently and winch them in. This past weekend I threw braid to 20lb and straight braid. Either setup allowed me to winch in 5lbers without ripping the trebles out.

    New Favorite Chatterbait Rod

I came across ALX rods originally because a close friend of mine was on the pro-staff. I've been unhappy with the handful of rods I've tried throwing a Jackhammer on over the years, and decided to buy a rod specifically built for the bait because I throw it so often. I went with the Rumble, and could not be happier. It handles the bait perfect. Enough tip to feel the blades and enough backbone so you don't feel underpowered, which is easy to do with chatterbaits.

    Excellent Chatterbait Rod

I fished this rod for the first time last week throwing Jack Hammers. I caught several nice 3-4 lb. bass. I do recommend the Rumble as a Chatterbait rod. I ordered over the phone from Alex on a Thursday and received the rod on a Friday, the very next day! Thanks Alex.

    Not in love with it.

Let me say I have probably 7-8 other Alx rods from, Ikos, Zolo, and higher end one. I fished the Rumble yesterday and I was not that happy. It was a pretty heavy rod compared with some others I have. The thing I really didn't like was how stifff it was at the handle. Cork usually has a little give and this was hard. I also thought with the glass tip, the rod would load up a lot more.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the review Sorry to hear you weren't thrilled, but hopefully after a few more trips you will come to appreciate how unique the Rumble is. The cork grip same as used on all our ZOLO and ENOX models. This is a very high quality cork that should be very firm and not give when gripped. As you noted, the Rumble is heavier than other ZOLOs because of the partial glass construction. The total weight is around 5oz - which is more than most of our carbon fiber (aka graphite) rods. The Rumble is specifically designed to have a lot of power at the butt with a lighter tip so it loads when a fish hits but with ample power to set a single, heavy jig hook on moving baits like vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc. It will not load deep like a glass crankbait rod does. Thanks again for your honest review!

Zolo Rumble Chatterbaits to Lipless Cranks

Would not believe how nice of a lipless crank ripbait rod this one makes along with a bladed jig. I never had much luck with chatterbaits using a crankbait moderate rod. Lot of my lakes I fish are heavy vegetation. I wanted a glass rod that is not a noodle and strong and stiff enough that if I got stuck in the stuff, it could pull my lure through or rip it. Still keeping that parabolic flex that can take the fighting pissed off jumping fish or launch a lipless crank a mile. The Rumble is really good at that. I have been catching them on it. I owned a ton of big name brands and went through a lot of them. Most good glass rods are designed now for crankbaits and going to be thick in diameter which this is, after getting used to that, the Rumble is really light and because it is not a sluggish noodle gives you casting stability like a graphite rod along with sensitivity that lacks in glass rods. Hard combination to get in a rod. Bladed jig, grass swim jig is perfect..! Lipless cranks is ideal rod because it has the backbone stability to rip out stuck lures and parabolic still to fight nasty head shakes trying to throw your lure. Still remains light enough to not wear you out casting all day. Win win for being a versatile niche rod for a select techniques. I paired it with a Shimano CuradoK Mgl 150 at 6.5 oz reel, it's seriously light and comfortable.
