Fish From The Heart Benefit Tournament

September 22, 2012 – Osborn Landing, Richmond, VA

The Second Annual Fish From The Heart Bass Tournament benefiting the American Heart Association was held on September 22, 2012.

This year, ALX Rods was happy to once again sponsor the tournament by donating a custom built ALX Rod. This year’s winner was Jay Harrison of Colonial Heights, VA. Congratulations Jay!

As people with a passion for bass fishing we know that bass anglers are always strong to come out and support a worthy cause.  The concept of the ‘Fish From The Heart’ tournament was devised to do just that by bringing together the vast network of anglers in the Richmond area to help raise money for just such a worthy cause, The American Heart Association.

Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States accounting for more than 25% of the deaths each year.  Heart disease comes in many forms and can affect any age. While men over the age of 40 have a higher risk than women as women get older their risk increases to just slightly lower than men. Most everyone knows someone that has been affected by this deadly disease.

Since 1915 The American Heart Association’s mission has been to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives what they do. Through education and research they are working toward this important goal.
